iWakaru Japan

User Agreement

Version: 2026-10-02

The short version

  • iWakaru Japan sells digital Japan travel information. Nothing physical is shipped and we do not sell travel, tickets or bookings.
  • Your account is for you alone. Do not share your login.
  • Paid guides and other paid content are licensed for your personal use only. Do not share, forward, upload, resell or redistribute them.
  • Unauthorized sharing of paid content is a serious breach of this agreement. Where permitted by applicable law, we may seek liquidated damages of up to US$1,000 per violation, and we may suspend or close the account.
  • You keep ownership of anything you submit. You give us the license we need to run the service, and separately choose whether we may use it in promotions (off by default).
  • Travel, event and map information can change. Always check official sources before you travel.

1. Agreement acceptance

By creating an account, buying a product or using iWakaru Japan, you agree to this User Agreement. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the service.

We record the version of this agreement you accepted and the date and time you accepted it.

2. Eligibility

You must be legally able to enter into a binding agreement where you live to create an account or make a purchase. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the service only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to this agreement.

3. Account registration

You must give accurate information when you register and keep your email address up to date. One person may not create accounts in order to avoid a suspension or restriction.

4. Account security

You are responsible for keeping your password and sign-in methods secure and for activity on your account. Tell us through Support straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

5. Email verification

We may ask you to confirm your email address. Some features, including purchases and account recovery, may require a confirmed email address.

6. Individual account use

Each account is for one person. You may not let anyone else use your account, sell or transfer your account, or use one account for a group, business or organisation.

8. Individual-use license

When you buy a paid product, you receive a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use it for your own non-commercial travel planning. You do not buy ownership of the content. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

9. Prohibition on sharing paid products

You may not:

  • share purchased guides or paid content with anyone else;
  • forward purchased files, pages or links that give access to paid content;
  • upload purchased guides to any other website, app, cloud folder, group or platform;
  • repost, redistribute or resell paid content;
  • use paid content for any commercial redistribution;
  • give another person access through your account;
  • share your login details so someone can avoid paying;
  • copy and redistribute substantial portions of paid content;
  • bypass access controls or circumvent entitlement checks.

10. Unauthorized redistribution

Unauthorized sharing or distribution of an iWakaru Japan paid digital product constitutes a material violation of the User Agreement. Where permitted by applicable law, iWakaru Japan may seek liquidated damages of up to US$1,000 per violation, in addition to other remedies available under applicable law.

This amount is not a fine and is not automatically owed in every case. Whether it applies, and how much, depends on the circumstances and on the law that applies to you. This provision may not be enforceable in every jurisdiction.

If a violation occurs, iWakaru Japan may also:

  • suspend or terminate the account;
  • revoke access to paid content;
  • ask for shared copies to be removed;
  • keep records related to the violation;
  • take legal action to enforce this agreement;
  • recover damages that apply under the law;
  • use any other lawful remedy.

12. User-generated content

Where the service lets you submit content, such as reviews, photos, videos, comments or messages, this agreement applies to that content. Not every type of submission is available on the site at all times.

13. User content ownership

You keep ownership of the content you submit. Submitting content does not transfer your copyright to iWakaru Japan.

14. License granted to iWakaru Japan

By submitting content, you give iWakaru Japan a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, format, translate and adapt that content as needed to operate, maintain and improve the service. Use in promotions or marketing needs your separate permission (see section 24).

You confirm that you have the rights needed to submit the content and to give this license.

15. Photos uploaded by users

Only upload photos you took or have permission to share. Do not upload photos that show identifiable people in private situations without their consent. We may refuse or remove any photo.

16. Videos uploaded by users

Only submit videos you created or have permission to share, including any music or other material in them. We may refuse or remove any video.

17. Reviews and testimonials

Reviews and testimonials must reflect your own honest experience. Do not post reviews in exchange for payment without saying so. We do not edit a review to change its meaning.

18. Comments and content submitted by users

Comments, support messages and other submissions must be lawful, respectful and relevant. Messages to Support are used to help you and are not published.

19. Right to display submitted content

Under the license in section 14, and subject to your content choices, we may display content you submit on iWakaru Japan.

20. Right to reproduce submitted content

We may make copies of submitted content as needed to store, back up, deliver and display it.

21. Right to format submitted content

We may resize, crop, compress or reformat submitted content so it displays correctly, without changing its meaning.

22. Right to translate submitted content

Because iWakaru Japan is offered in several languages, we may translate submitted content so travellers in other languages can read it.

23. Right to use submitted content for platform operation

We may use submitted content to run the service, for example to moderate it, investigate abuse, provide support and improve features.

24. Right to use submitted content for marketing where applicable

We will use submitted content in promotions or marketing only if you have turned on that permission in your account's content choices. It is off by default. If you turn it off, we will stop future promotional use where legally and technically possible; it may not be possible to recall material already published or distributed.

25. Content moderation

We may review, refuse, edit for formatting, or remove any submitted content, and are not required to publish anything that is submitted.

26. Prohibited content

Do not submit content that:

  • is illegal, defamatory, harassing, hateful or threatening;
  • is sexually explicit or exploits minors;
  • contains someone else's private information without consent;
  • is spam, advertising or misleading;
  • contains malware or harmful code.

27. Copyright infringement

Do not submit content that infringes anyone's copyright. If you believe content on iWakaru Japan infringes your copyright, contact us through Support with details of the work and where it appears, and we will review it.

28. Trademark and IP violations

Do not use the iWakaru Japan name, logos or the Wakamaru character, or anyone else's trademarks, in a way that suggests endorsement or causes confusion, without permission.

29. Fraud and abuse

Do not use the service fraudulently, including false payment disputes, stolen payment details, abuse of discount codes or refund abuse.

30. Account sharing

Sharing your account or login details with anyone else is not allowed and may lead to suspension or termination.

31. Access-control circumvention

Do not try to access paid content you have not bought, or bypass sign-in, entitlement checks or other security measures.

32. Scraping and automated extraction

Do not use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to copy, collect or download content from iWakaru Japan without our written permission.

33. Reverse engineering where prohibited

Do not decompile, reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the service, except where the law expressly allows it.

34. Abuse of the AI planner

The AI planner is for your own trip planning. Do not use it to produce content for resale, overload it with automated requests, or try to make it produce harmful or unlawful content. AI suggestions can be wrong; check them before you rely on them.

35. Third-party links and services

iWakaru Japan links to other websites and services, some through affiliate links. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, prices, bookings or policies.

36. Maps and location information

Maps, addresses and directions are provided for planning only and may be incomplete or out of date. Follow local signs, rules and official guidance.

37. Travel information disclaimers

Opening hours, prices, transport, entry rules and other travel details change often. Always confirm with official sources before you travel. iWakaru Japan is not a travel agent.

38. Event information disclaimers

Event dates, times and details come from organisers and official sources and can change or be cancelled. Check with the organiser before you go.

39. Pricing and purchase terms

Prices are shown in US dollars before payment and are one-time payments unless clearly stated otherwise. Payments are processed by our payment provider. We may change prices for future purchases; a change does not affect what you have already bought.

40. Digital delivery

Access is added to your account after the payment is confirmed. If access does not appear, contact Support.

41. Refund policy reference

Refunds are handled under the iWakaru Japan refund policy, which is sent with your purchase confirmation.

42. Affiliate disclosure reference

Some links on iWakaru Japan are affiliate links. See the Affiliate disclosure page for details.

43. Privacy policy reference

How we handle personal information is explained in the Privacy Policy.

44. Account suspension

We may suspend an account while we investigate a suspected breach of this agreement, fraud, or a security risk.

45. Account termination

We may terminate an account for a serious or repeated breach of this agreement. You may close your account at any time by contacting Support. Termination for a breach may end access to paid content without a refund, where permitted by law.

46. Content removal

We may remove any content that breaches this agreement or the law, or that we are asked to remove by a rights holder or authority.

47. Unauthorized distribution enforcement

To protect paid content, we may monitor for redistribution, keep records of suspected violations, send removal requests to websites and platforms, and take the steps described in section 10.

Zero tolerance. If you scrape, copy, resell, redistribute, or otherwise misuse our content, or share or abuse your account: we will immediately and permanently terminate your access without refund, ban your account, and revoke any affiliate status and privileges. We will issue takedown notices against infringing copies wherever they appear. We further reserve the right to pursue all available legal remedies, including claims for damages, and to report unlawful conduct to the competent authorities.

48. Dispute and legal provisions

If you have a problem, please contact Support first so we can try to resolve it. The governing law and the place where disputes are handled have not yet been set out in this agreement; until they are, nothing here limits rights you have under the law that applies to you.

49. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, iWakaru Japan is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by relying on travel, event, map or AI information, and its total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the product concerned. Nothing in this agreement limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

50. Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties that it will be error-free, uninterrupted or always accurate. Your rights as a consumer under applicable law are not affected.

51. Changes to the agreement

We may update this agreement. Each version has a version date. When we publish a new version, we keep a record of earlier versions and of what you accepted, and we will ask you to accept the new version before your next purchase.

52. Contact information

Contact iWakaru Japan through the Support page. A postal address and legal contact have not yet been published.
